Can be used in 98 % of all scanning jobs and increases productivity by 30 % as compared to oil mounting.
Scanner Mounting Fluid often will clean the film, fill the film grain and provide anti newton benefits all at once. After being mounted on the scanner with "SMF", when the film is removed from the scanner the "SMF" quickly dries clean. If when removed from the scanner the film immediately gets a quick wipe with a lint free towel the film will be perfectly clean and ready to go right back into it's protective sleeve. SMF is extremely important for archival quality scanning and negative films. Many customers exclusively use KAMI "SMF" for all of their film scanning, mounting stations, scanner drums and flatbeds are all designed to be used with KAMI SMF.
The method of using optical fluid has been around for decades; approximately half the users of KAMI have drum scanners and the other half flatbed scanners. The physics behind KAMI is to fill the imperfections in the film and cut down the light diffracting from the scanning surfaces. On a flatbed scanner with both KAMI and Optical Mylar the film is forced flat on the bed improving the focus, light path, lack of newton rings and ultimately the capture.
